ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a lifelong mental disorder that can become visible in your child’s formative preschool years. This condition makes very difficult for your child to control his/her behavior and pay attention. This condition affects more than 7 percent of the school aged population.

ADHD can cause your child to suspend from preschool. ADHD in adolescence and adulthood can cause the thirst for high-risk activity. There is also a chance for having the risk for marital conflict. This condition changes the production of a chemical called dopamine in your child’s brain.

The role of every parent in controlling ADHD in their children:

Being a parent of a child with ADHD typically marks out the characteristic behaviors back to the preschool years.

Visit your child’s doctor and talk with him about your child’s behavior. Know the behavior of your child by visiting the several people who know your child. With this information, diagnosis of your child can be made.

After the diagnosis, your doctor will recommend to try some medications to observe if they help to control hyperactivity disorder in your child. Trying the medications is not only the treatment for ADHD; it is just an important part of evaluating your child if ADHD is suspected.

The thing you need to do is, make a team and work together with doctors and teachers to help your child. Children with ADHD are likely to need more structure and apparent expectations. Most of the children will be beneficial from counseling or from structured therapy. Talk with the specialist to manage ADHD associated behaviors and try to learn the problems.

Also, you can attend parent classes to help your child with ADHD. They will dictate you how to bring your child highly emotional, strong willed and impulsive.

ADHD drugs:

Up to 2 million children in the US are diagnosed with ADHD. Some of the parents want to use drugs to control ADHD in their children. Most of the drugs are stimulants and have grown pervasive over the last few years.

Amphetamines can be used to treat this condition. According to recent studies, 6.5 percent of high school students with ADHD are using amphetamines and 5.5 percent are using diverted dextroamphetamines.

The most powerful stimulants used to treat ADHD include:

  • Ritalin: A methylphenidate hydrochloride
  • Dexedrine: Dextroamphetamine
  • Adderall

These drugs are rapidly becoming the most popular treatments for ADHD. Occasionally your doctor suggests pure methamphetamine. These drugs will show contradictory effect in patients suffering from ADHD when taken in large doses. Anti-depressants and neuroleptics can also be used to treat the condition.

Neurofeedback to help the child with ADHD:

Neurofeedback is a technique in which the brain of children will be trained to improve their behavior and reduce hyperactivity and impulsivity. This technique may not work for every child.

This program consists of instructing your child to activate or deactivate in a portion of their brain. This program also includes exercises for brain electrical activation. This is mainly aimed at learning how to regulate cortical activation in order to reduce better attention control and thus improving the main symptom directly.

This depends on your child’s ability, the better your child learn to regulate the cortical activity during the program, the more he/she will improve according to your estimations. It works more effectively if you consider it along with the ADHD medications and it can be a better option for children who are not cured by ADHD medications or can’t bear the drugs.

The most important thing here is, this is only effective when your child participates in every aspect of the program.

Create a list of the daily tasks: This list can remind your child’s chores and activities. Post the list in your child’s bedroom or at bathroom mirror.

Schedule proper medication timings: Medications can play a great part in treating your child’s ADHD. So, it is very important to take them regularly and at appropriate timings. Adjust the schedule throughout the year as your child grows. If you have any problem about the medications, visit your child’s specialist.

Helping the child in her studies: Buy separate color binders for each subject to enhance your child’s organization and to minimize the chances of bringing the wrong notebook. Assign a deadline to finish the work. This helps in improving your child’s grades.

Supporting your child in every aspect: Youngsters with ADHD need all the love and encouragement from you. Hug your child at the end of the day and say some words like “I am so proud of you”. This helps to boost your child’s self-esteem and makes her to feel cherished.

Tonsillitis removal to cure ADHD in children:

In some cases, tonsillitis removal can significantly improve or even cure severe hyperactivity in your child, often called as ADHD.

Sleep patterns also cause ADHD. Snoring, restlessness, sleep apnea, and difficulty breathing [sleep related breathing disorders] are the indications for ADHD in every young child. Infected tonsils are the main causes of sleep disorders. Therefore, sleep disorders should be prevented in your child to cure ADHD.
