One is benign prostate hyperplasia, which is due to the enlarged prostate that occurs as you age and the other two are due to the effects of prostate cancer and prostatitis.

Usually, prostate symptoms do not appear until the age of 50. Here are three complexities that men should know about.

1. Benign prostate hyperplasia

This results in enlargement of the prostate and also leads to sexual dysfunction.

Symptoms include difficulty in urinating, frequent urination, waking up several times during the night to urinate, uncontrolled dribbling, painful urination, unable to empty the bladder, and painful ejaculation.

2. Prostate cancer

This is the second most common type of cancer in men and is very common in men above 50 years of age. Risk increases as you age. Symptoms include difficulty in urinating, lower back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain and problems in erection.

3. Prostatitis

It is an infection or inflammation of prostate. This condition can influence any adult, but is very common in men between 25-50 years of age.

This is mainly due to bacterial infection that spreads from other part of your body. Taking antibiotics can treat this condition. Prostatitis can lead to pain, difficulty in urinating, blood in urine and fever.
