The Symptoms Of Mental Health Depression

Speaking in simple terms, bipolar disorder or mental health depression is an illness which is often expressed as a mood disorder.

This disease mainly affects an individual’s thoughts, behavior, feelings and actions.

Mental health depression can affect you feel both mentally and physically.

Those who have mental health depression can experience mood changes that range from feeling very high or over excited to feeling very low up to the point that a person is suicidal.

This is a very simple symptom of bipolar disorder. Most of the people with mental health disorder will experience prolonged episodes of depression followed by short or rare manic episodes.

Symptoms of mental health depression:

  • A decline in normal interests and activities
  • Frequent crying
  • Feeling tired but not sleeping well
  • Feelings of hopelessness that persist
  • Inability to stay motivated
  • Ignoring one’s responsibilities, including important ones like caring for family members
  • Periodic or chronic feelings of guilt, worthlessness and sadness
  • Suicidal thoughts and feelings
  • Sleeping too much or not able to get out of bed

Mania is a condition which is much different from mental health depression. Manic episodes are characterized by very upbeat behaviors to the point they become dangerous.

Symptoms of mania:

  • Appearance of paranoia, hallucinations or delusions of grandeur
  • Acting unusually extroverted, extravagant and recklessly
  • Experiencing increased or heightened sexual behaviors, including cheating or engaging in risky sexual acts
  • Feeling filled with too much energy to the point where one can’t stop
  • Feeling like the king or queen of the world
  • Feeling energetic despite not sleeping
  • Feeling like someone can do everything, whether proper or not, or legal or not
  • Inability to sleep and lack of need to sleep
  • Spending lots of money and feeling super human

Some patients with mental health depression do not recognize mania. They are happy to be feeling anything but depressed. An individual who has diagnosed with mental health depression can usually experience full symptoms of depression during depressive episodes and full mania during manic episodes disorder.

There is another form of bipolar disorder called as bipolar II disorder. This is also similar to I. The only difference is, instead of experiencing full mania, the individual can experience a symptom called hypomania.

Symptoms of hypomania:

  • Able to overcome from everyday problems without hesitation
  • Ability to focus better than average on daily tasks
  • Feeling like one can achieve anything and do what they like, just short of engaging in illegal or potentially life threatening behaviors
  • Feeling more imaginative and innovative than regularly
  • Having higher than usual levels of energy and feeling over confident

People who are hypomanic can be uncontrolled or reckless. This varies from a person who is fully manic. In this, most of the people feel very happy who have hypomania. Hypomania can be treated along with depression. For this, your mood should remain consistently stable.

Like mania, hypomania can never affect you for very long time. Finally, a person with bipolar disorder I or bipolar disorder II will fall back into a major depressive episode.

Another form of bipolar disorder is “mixed” bipolar disorder. In this condition, an individual can experience symptoms of both depression and mania at the same time.

There are many causes for this mental health depression. You need to be very careful about those situations and you should avoid them. A proper diagnosis will greatly help you in finding the right causes.
