What Is A Neti Pot?

A Neti Pot is an implement that is used to irrigate the nasal canal.

It is a small container as the size of a small tea cup and shaped rather like a kettle, with a handle on one side and a spout on the other.

A saline solution is filled in the Neti pot which is then poured into one nostril which then is supposed to flow out of the other, clearing the nose.

The saline water treatment administered by the Neti Pot which has its origins in Yoga is known to be helpful in easing a variety of ailments and is now very popular in the West as well.

Nasal conditions such as hay fever, chronic sinusitis, etc have been known to benefit from the saline water treatment since it clears the nose of mucous. Allergies, colds and even mild infections are seen to benefit greatly from the saline water treatment.

As shown in this video, the neti pot is quite easy to use: all that it required to be done is mix the saline solution and pour it into the pot then tilt your head slightly to one side and pour the water into the nostril of the opposite side.

So if you tilt your head to the left, you pour water into your right nostril, which will soon trickle out of your right nostril.
